I admit that it was also an easy decision for me to get this kindlebook as I have seen some of his episodes both from the Grocery Games before and the Diners and Drives tv episodes.
I watch the show so I didn't need to know how great the places Guy visits are. I was disappointed in the recipes he chose to share from those places. He mentions some great dishes but doesn't give the recipes for them. I only found one recipe that I would like to try. I bought this book because I really like one of his other books (which I can't remember the name of, now lost on my dead nook). It had the story of his life, with some fun pictures, and lots of great recipes.
It's a great gift in theory. I purchased this for my husband since we absolutely love the show, and the recipes are okay. They are not things that I would typically cook but they do look delicious on TV. It's a great coffee table book but I can't say we've actually made a recipe from the cookbook.
I liked this book, I loved the show. But being from California I felt that my state was unrepresented. I understand that there is limited space but I felt that out of all the great places that the show covered in Cali far too few made it into this book, yet there were reviews of places that I will mostly likely never go. but that's really just me.
Pretty interesting, but light on recipes that I would personally make. I bought it at a discount and don't regret the purchase but would have been disappointed if I had payed full price
Not happy at all with this book. Purchased it for a 6,000 mile trip across America and couldn't use it once! Full of a bunch of useless information. So if you're looking for a book as a travel guide for good places to go, this is not it!!!
I watch triple d all the time and was excited to see the books come out. I was expecting recipes for the main courses they were showing and know that some are trade secrets and they don't like to give that out, however the recipes that are in these books I would not even order in the restaurants much less give them a try at home. Very disappointed.
FUN! FUN and more FUN.....makes tracking down some of his favorite stops easy....also some delicious ideas for meals. Look forward to reading others written by Guy.
