So I remembered the author of “Mrs. Nelson is Missing” and I remembered enjoying that book from grade school. I like the illustration style as well so I thought his version of this fairy tale would be ok. But no. The wolf eats Grandma and Red, who both have to be rescued by the hunter who comes and chops the wolf up. Maybe this is fine for story hour and older kids? But this is definitely something that was not appropriate for my son. I will be returning this, despite the fun illustrations. Same goes for his violent version of the Three Little Pigs....

My three year old twins are really into fairy tales right now. This version of Little Red Riding Hood is a hit with them. The book does say that the hunter kills the wolf and cuts out Red Riding Hood and Granny- so if you're looking for a "no kill" version of the story, this isn't the book for you. But the image associated with that page is super G rated. We just kind of gloss over that part.

This do-not-talk-to-strangers tale is definitely retold (with no "little" in the title), but the young listeners or readers, who may be familiar with the original, won't mind this version because the story is still charming and the illustrations--a la Marshall's "Miss Nelson is Missing"--carry the story and certainly draw in the viewer. It's an eight-minute read-aloud, including some time for elaboration. (Minutiae: With all the gobbling, why did the wolf ignore the grandmother's cat?)The Creative Teacher: Activities for Language Arts (Grades 4 through 8 and Up)

My 2 and 4 year old love my personalized versions of fairy tales, but often the books are either too scary for them or too bowdlerized for me. This version is a good balance- the basic elements that make the story interesting are all there, but Marshall's silly illustration style and added quirks keep them from getting too scared.

Great composer. Great book. I find his music mesmerizing to listen to, as well as play. My students love these pieces. Excellent for teaching expression and tone and musicianship. Difficulty varies throughout the book. Mostly intermediate.

Enjoyable if you like basic chord progressions, but terribly simple and annoyingly repetitive.

I had free copies of these book for background as part of the author’s advance readers group for the fourth book in the series, but this is my honest opinion of the books. I thoroughly enjoyed all three books in the series. The story lines are interesting and the character backgrounds are a refreshing change from stories about billionaires and princes that are popular right now. These characters have everyday jobs and lives. I would recommend reading about all of the brothers.

Ms Gussman does a great job creating characters that seem real––they're not perfect, but they are good and honorable.She knows just how far to ratchet up the angst and when to break it up with a laugh.I highly recommend this series centered around the Baxter brothers and their relationships.

I've enjoyed all of the Baxter Brother books. They are sweet love stories. They have a common theme. All the brothers have automotive repair shops. They have admired the women they fall in love with for years. But each story is unique and fun to read. I recommend all of them.

All of these books are wonderful! They can be read as stand alone books, but the family grows😉The Baxter boys aren't the "golden boys" growing up, but have lived a hated life. They have strong work ethics and good values.A great series!

This is a refreshing and unexpected journey towards love families and friendships as they journey towards true unconditional love and hope for the future.

These are such fun books that draw the reader into the story and keep you riveted through the last pages. I read each of these books from cover to cover with only breaks for stretching, that is how good they were. These Baxter Boys are a breed into themselves who you cannot help but fall in love with. They all end up with very interesting women who just all happen to be close friends. When I started reading the first book I never imagined the enjoyment I would receive from these T-Guys! A great set to pass some time with some very special senior citizens in each book.I received ARC copies of these books. This is a great set of books. The stories revolve around three brothers who had a rough childhood and are all motor-heads with issues. The stories are realistic and a bit haunting. This is an insightful, easy-to-read guide describing many of those invisible things in our environment that affect us daily (and ultimately our brain), and what we can do to reduce their negative effects. Dr. Tom O’Bryan discusses possible factors that can lead to brain fog from our food and environment - toxins, electromagnetic pollution, benzene in gas, chemicals, house cleaners, plastic containers, chlorine in the water, and much more. He suggests having a healthy gut and eating organic food. He talks about inflammation and the benefits of lifestyle changes, although he cautions it's better to make changes gradually. His descriptions of the workings of the human body use language geared to all. He repeatedly advocates talking to one’s doctor and asking questions, and he makes some home-based recommendations. You might finish a chapter thinking about getting a water filter, moving your cell phone to the other side of the room before sleeping, or checking out his recipes.O’Bryan includes an extensive list of reference studies from scholarly journals but he acknowledges that medical research will continue to inform us. As a librarian and non-medical professional who’s seen many books and their revisions, it’s likely that 10 years from now Dr. O’Bryan will be publishing updates to some of his recommendations based on new research. But that’s one reason I like this book; O’Bryan appears to be open to learning and sharing his knowledge. And another...this book shows commonsense ways of thinking about our environment, toxins, and their cumulative effect on our bodies. Worth thinking about.

I've been to dr's... LOTS of dr's the past 2 years. they all come back to me stating the same thing - Blood work is great - you look fine.. thing is I'm NOT fine!I'm sick. really, really sick.By reading this book, it was like Dr. Tom was saying the exact things I was telling my dr's, and now I have a hope at a solution that was never offered to me, or at least now I know what is going on and I have the possibility of changing things on my own.thank you Dr. Tom for being you, offering help and making me feel a bit less crazy and I pray I can now get better. xo

This is book is similar to others he has written. I did not really learn much new from it, so would recommend others first. For brain issues choose those from Dr. Perlmutter first.

I'm trying to figure out what it is that we're supposed to "One Hour Per Week"...it's not clear to even after listening to the audiobook. This book is probably the best book I’ve read. The information can actually help avoid catastrophic consequences from ignoring signs, bad diets, and lifestyles. When your body is screaming at you, you have to listen, and do things differently. The days of going to the doctor with a problem and getting an answer, instead of a prescription, are over. If you want answers you have to help yourself. I have several mystery illnesses going on at once, my health is very much in a nose dive, and if I don’t turn some things around there will be a crash. I am thankful for this book, it has given me hope that I can start to turn some things around.

I think the material is informative, however I am concerned about self prescribing laboratory tests. Having worked in a clinical laboratory for 40 years, I think it is unwise to order important lab tests by yourself. How do you judge the results? You should have a GI doctor you can trust to order and then analyze the results. If your MD is unwilling to help investigate or try “out of the box” methods, maybe it’s time to switch doctors.

I was at first uncertain whether investing in a Python OOP book resource would be worth the money given the vast quantity of free resources online. I'm glad I did! I have roughly one year of programming experience (less than that in Python) and this book is very digestible, even for beginners. The book is very straight forward and built around examples which helps in giving perspective to OOP concepts covered throughout the book. If you're new to Python I would definitely recommend this book once you're ready to tackle OOP. Definitely keep it around as a reference once you've finished going through it.

There are a few issues with the code samples provided with the book that will hopefully be sorted out in the next edition, if there will be one. Although I find it a fantastic introduction to object oriented programming concepts in general (very easy to follow and provides well thought out examples along with good principles), I can't get over how the author seems so self-involved. There are constant references to his blue eyes and "penchant for writing" throughout the chapters; reading the page-long foreword will definitely give the reader an idea of this. I didn't want or purchase a personal ad for some blue-eyed guy and his love of writing (self-help programming literature at that!); I bought a book to introduce myself to OOP principles and methods.

I am still in the middle of reading it and I can say that I truly value this book. I bought the Kindle version and was able to download the examples code on my laptop, which helps to overcome Kindle's small size limitations. I already applied some of the tips of this book to my professional work and am looking truly forward to the 2 chapters on Design Patterns in Python.Bruce Eckel wrote a free online book in 1999, but that book is outdated and unfinished.Personally, for the people who like both Python 3 AND programming/thinking in OOP, I can highly recommend this bookBy the Kindle version: It will save you $30 plus no taxes.I use Python for software test automation in my day to day job.

This book is great if you would like to learn more about Python and OOP, which I do. This is great for beginner/intermediate level programmers, but may be slightly lacking if you have a firm grasp on OOP design patterns, although this will definitely help an expert grapple Python for the first time.If you understand the material quickly, feel free to skip the "Case Study" at the end of every chapter. As with any programming book, you will be wasting your time if you don't put it to practice.

I now have read half of the book. It is the first book makes me truly understand what object orientated programming really means.The book is really well written. No trivial things. All the key points are elaborated naturally and are making a lot of sense.

I implemented almost all the author’s example on a Microsoft Visual Studio platform with minimum issues. Some of the examples need some modification for this platform, but nothing major. I found the book easy to read and understand. This is the best Python Object-Oriented book I have found todate.

Python is a fairly easy language to pick up, but if you're coming from other OO languages (in particular C++, PHP or Java), and have a pretty strong background with objects, you may find that this book is right at your comfort level.First, there is a nice little intro chapter that should be called 'just enough UML'. The author gives you a most sensible fly by that is useful for those who aren't partial to having to generate CYA documentation in large companies. Use case fundamentals are related to UML class diagrams and then into sequence diagrams (exactly how I've always done things). If you have always thought Rational Rose was a bit of an overkill, but you like taking a marker to an art pad or a white board instead for designing software, you'll like this.Second, you are treated to a brisk walk through of Python, and the author is quick to point out how it differs from other OO environments, gives a nice explanation of the parts where Python philosophy might contradict what you've been taught with the other languages and quickly introduces you to the niceties of Python that you aren't accustomed to.Finally, I found this book answered questions that others didn't. You'll see that the author is almost reading your mind in some places (that is, if again, you've been doing OO for a while with other languages). If you are into design patterns, so much the better.I found this book to be a quick study, without muddying up the water with extraneous detail that isn't necessary. I would not likely recommend this book to someone who is just getting started with software development for the first time ever, but if you are a somewhat experienced hacker who understands OO and values the importance of mixing in just enough design with your coding (before, during and after that is), this book may definitely be for you.

This is a very good book with a lot of thoughts and efforts put into writing it. It doesn't bore you with all the elementary stuff that you can find in many other books. It gets right into the heart of the subject of each chapter at a reasonable depth so that you feel you have learned something without getting lost. When it deals with a subject, it not only tells you how things work but also why they work that way. It helped me gain a deeper understanding of the language. It also helped me think about how to structure my code. The examples and case studies are very broad in terms of practical coverage and they themselves are good learning materials as well. This is a real book well worth the money, unlike some other books out there which in some cases are simply copy and paste from different sources.
