I like this book. Or, rather, I *really* like everything thatcomes after page 68. The first 68 pages, however, gives us anot-so-brief overview on the history of ribbonry in fashion ....We're also treated to beautiful photos of the author's work, whereI've discovered her love for the combination of pink and green.... but as the title of this book states _A PASSION for Ribbonry_,perhaps the purpose of this book was to talk about the author'sdevotion to ribbons and ribbonwork.The rest of the book dealsmostly with flowers, and I find the instructions to be very clear,with clear photos illustrating each step. I like Ms. Nitschke'sinstructions; I first encountered her in Threads Magazine, in herarticle on cockades. There is also a quilt featuring the flowers onthe quilt blocks. There are also brief instructions on other ribbontreatments, specifically gathering and pleating.Would I buy anotherbook by this author? Probably. Would I refer to this book often?Again, probably. I really like the creative possibilities she showsutilizing the ribbon flowers, and the instructions are clear andsimple.

I think this is a wonderful book. I have most of the books on ribbon flowers and each one has something to offer that the other doesn't have. The instructions are very good and easy to follow. Camela gets into ribbon folding techniques that are not in the other books and I find that very interesting and useful in decorating. She gives directions for more unusual flowers and these are very nice to use in mixed floral bouquets. This beautiful book is a must for any one that loves to do ribbon flowers.

I have two weddings lined up this week and this book gave me some really great ideas! Keep in mind that not every pose is for every couple, but this is a great all around reference. Scan through it and pick and choose the ones that would best suit the couple for your event and it will get your own creative juices flowing for your own ideas as well!

Terrible book. Do yourself a favor, open a Pinterest account and cycle through images there. At least those results will return “modern images” and you can save them to your phone for reference. Nothing of use in this book for anyone that has researched online for a couple hours or has shot couple portraits in the past. It doesn’t do a good job of how to pose or engage. Buy a different book

I'm not overly impressed with this book. You can find everything in this book on Pinterest so it's not a book I'll be keeping. Save your money!

This is by far the best book of poses that I have purchased. I'm a professional photographer currently booking about 20 weddings a year, so I'm still learning the finer details of posing. This book offers realistic, stylish poses that can be easily achieved with most clients, and it even gives you actual useful tips on how to make them happen. The names for the poses are pretty dorky, and there aren't nearly as many as I'd like (one pose per set of pages) but I feel like I got my money's worth.

Okay book, but the images look like they were taken by an amateur and really don't provide any inspiration for any of my future contracts.

If you are in need of getting better in posing and want something simple yet elegant and professional, this is the book for you. My husband and I are in love with it.

Dr. Hreib is simply the best. This book explains Stroke. He was one of my doctors at Lahey Clinic Burlington where I came to rely on his knowledge and practical advice post stroke. Unfortunately he no longer practices at Lahey so this book is a legacy for much of his wisdom that you might get if you were a stroke patient. I refer to his book when I am trying to understand an issues or remind myself of advice I had received. That said it may be a bit dated, so its always best to consult current sources.

This is the best book about how to manage a stroke hero. I have donated it to the 2nd largest rehab org to train their staff. Every person caring for a stroke hero should purchase this book Happy Easter

As the summer progresses, the plan to change the ending of the play moves forward. Touko is still holding on to the idea she needs to replace her sister, and is worried what will happen to her when the play is done. So during a break she gets an invitation from Yuu to visit the aquarium for a sort of date to break up the stress they are all under. When the rewrite is done and a title chosen everyone is excited for the new rewrites, except for Touko. Can Yuu finally reach Touko and make her understand, or will their relationship fall apart and wither? And what about the vice presidents revelation to Yuu, will that affect them as well.This story is the final stretch to what Touko thinks she needs to become and do, and the supporting cast is in the thick of it as well especially the still jealous vice president. While you feel for the girl, you also feel that Yuu is working hard to show her she does not need to be what others need her to be and it confused her. But this series is still strong and I cannot wait to see how the curtain rises on these young ladies when the play begins.

It is great story with good character development. Each individual character is there own person, and has good development.Just perfect.

Love this series

'Bloom Into You' continues to be excellent -- there's so many things to love, I'm not sure where to start. (And there's going to be some spoilers here, so that I can talk about specifics; if you're worried about that, just go read it! It's great!) The first that struck me, I think, was how well plotted it all is; this volume opens with us seeing the same scene (of the girls planning a rewrite of their play) from three different character's viewpoints, and it's great how different it feels each time based on who we're watching, but also how all of them are focused on the same theme, of identity and deciding who you are, and discovering who you are. Each time it's adorable -- I want to hug all of them, for different reasons each time. Then we get a very cute aquarium date between Yuu and Touko, where we not only get to admire the beautiful artwork, but get a very cheering look at how well these two fit together when they can just be together; it makes an even stronger contrast between the tensions they return to when Touko goes back to worrying about her own pressures in fitting into the role she's chosen for herself. Speaking of excellence in plotting, I really appreciate how thematically well the entire series fits together -- we started with Yuu's struggles with herself as an ace person, and as she's been getting more and more comfortable with that (although I feel like it's not resolved yet, so I'm looking forward to more), we've gradually shifted the focus to Touko's construction of her own personality as someone to match/replace her sister; it's all about self and identity, how you know yourself and be true to that, and how you then present that to the world, and which portions of the world get to see which portions of your self. There's one final moment I want to call out, too - throughout the series, we've see Touko initiating physical, sexual affection between the two of them and Yuu's puzzlement, acceptance, amusement, and enjoyment of it at various times. This time, we see Touko ask to kiss her, and Yuu turn her down -- not because she's not interested in kissing, but because she wants Touko to not use it as a way to hide from other feelings. It means a lot to me, because Yuu is someone who's been struggling with wanting to feel that sort of physical attraction, and so her refusal here says a lot about the depths of her feelings for Touko, that Yuu will turn down something that she thinks she should want, because she wants Touko to want it for the right reasons. I'm not sure I've really explained it well, but it was really moving for me, and it's a great bit of growth for characters that I already love a lot. So anyway, if you couldn't already tell from this, I can't rate this manga highly enough -- it's definitely a series that you should be following.

As his subtitle suggests, his work focuses on the first two centuries of slavery in North America.Berlin's primary (and well-documented) thesis is that slave culture was not one monolithic culture, but several different cultures depending upon the era and the area of North American enslavement. Additionally, Berlin highlights that slavery was racist and classist, an interpretation which does not minimize the evils of racism, but also exposes the evils of classism.Though in other works by the same author, readers find first-hand accounts of the horrors of slavery in the words of the enslaved, such documentation is less evident in this work. Very sad and important book

The myth of slavery derives from the powerful images of the miniseries Roots; the notion that black people were simply swept out of their African lives, degraded and sometimes killed on the harsh way to America and then put to work on a cotton plantation without power of any sort.Ira Berlin, in this beautifully written and thoroughly researched history of the first two hundred years of American slavery, "Many Thousands Gone", blows apart that myth. He says that slavery had great variety, based on geographic, economic and generational factors. The first generation of slaves in America were creoles, born of white and African American parents. They frequently lived along the sea and interacted with people of all walks of life, were traders and often spoke multiple languages. These slaves frequently stayed with their families, knew and utilized the courts to petition for freedom, they worked with their slave-owners to grow crops and to negotiate payment for their eventual freedom. This changed with subsequent generations who were plucked from central Africa and did not have the same experience with the white world. While slaves in these subsequent generations lost the power to negotiate the terms of their slavery with their slaveholders, they were able to grab autonomy in other ways. They grew and sold goods in cities, they purchased their freedom, though often at a high price. They escaped and formed maroon armed communities.A few other factors also played a significant role in determining the virulence of slavery, specifically geography and economics. Some crops like cotton and tobacco were well suited to the plantation systems and in areas where those crops grew well, the slave system was particularly harsh. History was another factor. In the form of the American Revolution it disrupted the plantation system, because the plantation owners, who were often patriots with strong beliefs in the rights of man, also owned slaves and defended their right to do so. The loyalists took advantage of this dilemma and often had the plantation slaves fighting on the loyalist side in exchange for the promise of becoming free men. Sometimes they even delivered on that promise.My only criticism is that I wanted more of a narrative that would bring together the various aspects of slavery. I was left with the feeling that American slavery was really Mississippi slavery or South Carolina slavery or New York slavery. The legacy of slavery appears to be monolithic even if the experience of slavery was not.

This book is in line with what you see in the Dora the Explorer shows. It builds in opportunities for the story reading to be interactive and for the children to respond/answer questions. Those are qualities I look for in story time books for my classroom! I used this book during a summertime thematic unit and it was great--included some good thematic vocabulary for my students (e.g. shell, bucket, shovel, sand) and they loved it. I teach students with autism who sometimes struggle to attend to a book--that was not a challenge with this one.

We got this book for our almost 3 year old prior to our beach vacation. I was surprised by how short it is! In pages and very few words per page!) Some of the Dora books seem to stretch on FOREVER, but this one is completely the opposite. The illustrations are fun, the content is ok. Not quite worth the money contextually, but the book is sturdy and well made for the toddler set.

Was hoping to get more puzzles and matching games like the Friendly Forest book that my daughter just loves. This book feels a bit more like an after-thought to the Camping one. That said, my daughter still loves it but I wish it had a bit more staying power like the camping Dora book.

I downloaded "A Day at the Beach" for my 3 year old granddaughter. It's so nice for her to request I read it to her instead of playing a game. A good amount of things to look for and different colors to find as well as a short story.

my granddaughter loves Dora and Boots . she is 4 years old and watches and reads about Dora and Boots a lot.

This book was a bit of a disappointment. It was too short and didn't follow the typical story sequence. Seemed to jump, with little transition from one page to the next.

Buy the printed one for the same price! Illustrations were very clean and the audio was nice. I guess it's just in the name (high price at the time)

The time around WW1 is fascinating, and Veit brings attention to the growth of "domestic science" food reform, ans to the intense public attention paid to food during the war. Veit has found some amazing details about the period, so the book is full of surprises, and her writing is lively and reader-friendly. This would be a wonderful book for a seminar on food and nationalism, or a class on American history.

I had no idea that events leading up to WWI contributed to our modern diet. After reading the book, I had a much better understanding of my grandmothers and their attitudes toward food—which they of course passed on to my parents and eventually me. I’d love to find more books like this one. Very insightful.

Modern Food, Moral Food is an excellent resource for 20th-c. food historians. It is also very approachable for the non-academic reader. Helen Zoe Veit's work explains the complex ways that Americans came to see certain foods as having a quality of righteousness.
