I have to say that this is without a doubt the most difficult book I own! But that is a good thing. I plan on getting an MA in Philosophy as well go on to doctoral work in philosophy as well. This book will greatly aid me in my long term goals. Not for the laymen, as the articles are written by analytic philosophers for analytic philosophers. The format of the book is great, as each author was given several pages (around 100 pages or so, give or take, for each argument!). It is easier when one treats each essay as if it were a book in its own right, carefully working through the material. Just as a heads up, the essay on the ontological argument assumes that you know propositional calculus! For those having a deep interest in apologetics as well as philosophy of religion, this book is a must have...but not for the faint of heart!!

Excellence is the one word that can describe this masterpiece. While my buddy Luke over here says this is best we will probably ever see, I say a bar has been set and it can only get better from here. Did you forget that the truth is on our side?William Lane Craig has put out a beautiful argument in the Kalam Cosmological Argument that has been taking on numerous gunfire from opponents, however in the end it still stands unblemished. It seems as though many have tried and THOUGHT they succeeded in debunked the KCA only to find that their thoughts have been put to shreds due to lack of philosophical and scientific knowledge or they just don't understand the argument. I laugh at the flops and hopelessly bad objections to the KCA and it seems like the critics are running out of steam. it seems as though that the attention this argument gets, speaks volumes. Now the argument just got stronger.Premise 1 is what most of the critics have TRIED to bring down constantly, but always seem to fall short. So this time Craig wants to make it more iron-clad then it already is and brings some help alongside him with a man by the name of James Sinclair who combined with Dr. Craig really show how virtually indestructible this powerful argument is. This is as of 2011 most likely the best essay in regards to the description of Kalam Cosmological argument.Then you have J.P Moreland with the argument from consciousness, Tim Mcgrew with the argument for the resurrection (though I think N.T Wrights "Resurrection of the Son of God" is still the best book on this subject). Robin Collins provides a great dissection of why the "fine-tuning" argument is possibly the greatest evidence for a higher power that we have as of today.It is interesting how we don't see Robert Merrihew Adams or John Hare writing about morals in this book (as I consider them the best in this subject), but WLC and JPM choosing Mark linville to write about morals. Mark did good, and considering I've hardly heard of him before this book, I'm definitely considering checking out his new book on morals that is coming out later this year. Robert Maydole tweaks Plantinga's Ontological argument and molds it into a formidable argument for God's existence. Some of these others I've never heard of, but what impressed in what I read.All in all this book is worth the price tag, but if you are not experienced in philosophy or apologetics it might take a couple of reads, before you can fully understand it.

The good news is that this is an in-depth treatment of a long-ignored subject. The bad news is that it is not for the layman. Training in philosophy would be most helpful and a bit of theology wouldn't hurt either. There are better books for the layman and many of the extended proofs will not interest most folks who would consider the points being argued to be self-evident, but this book defends natural theology from the ground up which means not taking the easy road in terms of presumptions.For serious students, this may be a definitive work.One caveat though. The chapter, late in the book, which includes modal logic is a total botch typographically. Someone without any knowledge of symbolic logic did a transfer that mismapped technical terms into the copyright symbol and other complete nonsense. All but inexcusable, but easily fixed. If the original symbol set isn't available on some Kindle platforms, there are workarounds. This really needs to be fixed.

This an extremely demanding book that better suits people with some philosophical background. It is meant to be studied rather than for light reading. However, it contains tremendous resources and references to the significant works related to natural theology. However, many steps are not explained clearly as prior knowledge is assumed. This is not for the beginner.

This book is the best collection of arguments for the existence of God that I have come across. As someone who grew quite tired of the usual poor argumentation for God, this book is a godsend. (Pun absolutely intended) Whether you are a theist or an atheist, as long as you have an interest in the philosophy of religion, this is the book for you.

The best book on Natural Theology I have ever read. I the logic of the philosophical arguments presented in this book is impeccable. If you only get one book on Christian Apologetics choose this one!

I haven't finished reading this book; however it is excellent reading and I am enjoying the subject matter and the way the book is written...

A wide scope of approaches regarding the existence of God.I like the Bayes test on this subject in several articles, and the good atrtention that is given to the objections.You get the feeling to listen to a very interesting debate, without the bias of emotion.

I'm not sure why it's so rare, but unlike so many authors the books are getting better over time. While the over all universe is sprawling, there's very little Weberish Gibberish filler. Looking forward to the next books.

I liked that it brought together some of the previous books into the fabric of the saga but I didn't like it when it ended...want more!

Finally, I cannot wait for the next one. I have read almost all of Chris's books and have enjoyed all of them. I just wish he could keep up with how fast I read. I look forward to Blockade and the next Horatio Logan book. If you decide to get this book be prepared to sit awhile because you will want to keep reading.

I should preface by saying I've bought several "...For Dummies" books on various subjects and loved them all. This one was simply "OK". As far as giving a decent background on basic fundamentals of accounting and why you should do the things Quickbooks allows you to do, it's great. I guess I needed something even more remedial. Many of my various Quickbooks questions were answered simply by using Google as I couldn't find them within this book and I've read it cover to cover twice.Quick example: My business is up and running. My copy of Quickbooks is installed on my PC. Now I'm ready to start entering banking info. Where do I click to type in the Beginning Balance of my business' checking account?? This book will tell you what a "beginning balance" is. Along with how you track, depreciate and even sell your assets but when staring at the Quickbooks screen and simply trying to enter in the information and get started.... its not gonna help you. Or at least, it didn't help me.I found that simply heading over to Intuit's website and it's associated forums was easier and no matter what question I had, several others did as well. All of my questions had been asked and answered in easy to find posts by someone else at some point.While the book was well written and it's author should be commended for his occasional use of humor and speaking in easy to understand terms (not like sitting in Accounting 101, trust me) I just found this to be a purchase I couldve done without. Again, I've bought many "For Dummies" books and I've kept them all to reference back to from time to time over the years. After reading this one cover to cover, I think it's given me all it can and in my own personal case, it didn't give me much. Sorry.

I have looked up items a number of times in this book now, and though I find what I need to do, the directions are not completely clear. I have the 2013 version, so I feel like what it tells me to do should show up exactly as they say it should on my computer screen, but it does not. This book does not answer my questions when they arise. Maybe it's a more "get started" kind of book. Unfortunately, so far, I've stopped. :(

I will start out by saying that if you have NEVER used an Intuit product, this book would probably help you. I have been a Quicken Home and Business user since 2003. After much prodding by my accountant, I decided to switch to Quickbooks. I decided to get this book along with Quickbooks Pro to make sure I didn't mess anything up in the transfer. This book certainly lives up to its title; the author thinks you're an idiot. At a start, when setting up my business, he encourages you to use the express setup method because 'it's accelerated and suprisingly good!' I used this method initially only to have to delete my business and start over 30 minutes later because it didn't include several key things for my business. I went back and used the advanced setup, even after the author says (I'm quoting here) "Don't fiddle with the Advanced Setup unless you're an accounting expert." I'm no expert, but I think i know more about my business than Quickbooks does. I was also disappointed with the book did NOT cover how to 'import' income and expenses into Quickbooks if you're not starting January 1. At this point, I'm keeping track of my questions and will be conference calling with my accountant over what I still can't figure out in a couple of weeks of using Quickbooks.

Honestly, I just hate quick books. I think it's clearly a robust application but needlessly complicated. This book is more of a reference book than a guide - which in hindsight is what I really need. So while it may be a good book, it really didn't meet my needs. I gave it three stars because it could be that I need something different than what the book offers.

Clearly written and easy to use reference for those of us who are not in love with QuickBooks.

Quick Books 2013-Now I can, because of this book, get my taxes done on time and my books in order. Order is what you need when you have 4 companies and need to separate all the accounting. This book has all the answers I use to have to wait for hours on the phone to get.

Any for Dummies book is an asset. If you are new to QuickBooks then by all means have this book near your computer and use it as a reference. It explains and guides you through QuickBooks in an easy to understand manner.Bob H.

To start off I won’t be speaking about the content of the book, only about physical appearance of the book. It came in really good condition even though it was labeled as used/very good. It has not been highlighted or marked in anyway so I believe it was really good for the price, and no complaints except that I received it in my mailbox along with another book that I purchased and the problem is that they were folded and bent in such way that they were able to fit in the mailbox which caused creases in the middle of both of the books.Just so y’all know it’s a paperback, everything inside is black and white.Hopefully it works well for my freshman chem class.

While I've read a bit about Napoleon and about his invasion of Russia, this book really made the war come alive...rather than simply seeing the troop movements and various casualties on the page, this author does a great job of finding a vast quantity of first-hand accounts by participants on both sides--French and Russian of course, but also many Germans (on both sides), Poles, Italians, etc. Although written more than two hundred years ago, these accounts feel very contemporary and do a great job of describing the horrors of this war in a very personal manner which sometimes made me feel like I was there--generally much to my discomfort!Besides these excellent first-hand accounts, the author does an excellent job of describing Napoleon's dithering and misjudgments during the campaign, as well as the political infighting, disunity of command, and Kutuzov's inertia on the Russian side. The author does a commendable job of trying to answer the question "What was he thinking?" about many strange and fateful decisions by various commanders on both sides during this war.Another point worth mentioning, even if not critical, is the bargain price of this (kindle) book: right now only $6 vs $45 and $18 for kindle versions of other books on this campaign.Overall, a highly recommended read, especially for those thinking about invading Russia!

Great book. I had known that Napoleon invaded Russia with disastrous results but didn't know much more than that. This book gave me a detailed knowledge. It was very well written and very readable. I never got bored with it.I would have given it 5 stars but there seems to be some anti-Russian bias as well as some unwarranted Napoleon worship. Understandable in light of the author's heritage and not enough to seriously damage the book. But it is there and kept niggling at me as I read the book.Still, I highly recommend it.

Zamoyski's book is an unflinching and highly gory account of Napoleon's ill-fated invasion of Russia. Despite the horrors detailed in it's pages, it is an informative and at times inspiring account of how far human beings will go when pushed to the absolute limits of humanity. My only negative observation is that the author comes across as anti-Semitic in his unflattering and derisive description of the Jewish actors in this tragedy. Whether or nt that was intentional, or merely reflective of Zamoyski's personal views, I do not know. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in Napoleon, Russia, Military history, or stories about human behavior under extreme conditions,.

An amazing history book that also doubles as a philosohical case study in human folly. The book has the right level of detail, which, instead of being an exposition of thorough research for its own sake, helps weave together a salient big picture: corcumstances can make a hero out of an idiot, just as they can make an idiot out of a hero. The book is not just about the folly of Napoleon and Alexander, but also about that of the masses that folllowed them for what essentially were pathological ways of "thinking".

Excellent book that provides the overall strategic situation that led to Napoleon's invasion of Russia and a careful examination of the choices he made and their impact. A nicely detailed look at the planning and logistics leading up to the invasion, the invasion campaign, and Napoleon's retreat. A nice mix of analysis, narrative and individual stories to provide insight and give a sense of experiencing this.Flat out a good book, very authoritative.

This book covers Russia’s “Patriotic War” against Napoleon in all major respects. However, the book is at its best in describing the course and horror of the war from the perspective of the soldiers who fought it and civilians caught up in it. Lots of interesting details like the importance of spiked horse shoes to enable the horses to travel on icy roads and how Napoleon’s invasion had to be timed so that forage for his horses would be growing in Russian fields as his army advanced since his supply wagons were barely sufficient in capacity to haul all the other supplies his army needed. If you’re at all interested in the Napoleonic wars, I recommend you read this book.

Adam Zamoyski is an amazing writer, and equally amazing historian. By throwing in the personal accounts of participants of the events he describes, he makes his books not only very readable, but also very real in the sense of emotional content and context of those days. This book is no exception. What is particularily interesting about Napoleon's foray into Russia, is that often the winner is the one who makes the less number of mistakes.

I've never had much interest in Napoleon. My interests lie with World War II and the classical world. That's changed after reading "1812." I just put a hold on "War and Peace" at the library! It's distressing to realize how much European history kept repeating itself over the centuries, Napoleon through Hitler.Zamoyski presents history at the human level. It's enthralling and informative. There are enough maps and they are helpful. The illustrations are terrific, a real insight to everyday life for the soldiers.This is history the way it should be done and seldom is. Excellent. Highly readable for history buffs and anyone looking for a good read.

This is perfect for my journal/scrapbook that I keep... note the hard cover; however, you can tape many things inside without a problem. Also, the lines inside have a worn/aged/antique look (not sure what to call that)... some people are displeased with that look but I like it very much (and do believe it's done on purpose).

Nice heavy paper. My fountain pen does not bleed through.

This is a beautiful journal. The cover is so pretty with the pale writing behind the flowers. I love that each day has a bible quote. I bought it for a gratitude journal and love writing in it every night. The covers are strong and sturdy so you don't have to be at a desk. It's a perfect gift for someone you know who is struggling with stress or illness and could use a daily reminder to Be Still and know that your higher power is at work.

This is a beautiful journal! I'm so glad I ordered it! Totally worth every penny! I'm actually going to use it as a make-shift bridal shower guestbook since regular guestbooks are outrageously over-priced! :) I may order another to use as a personal journal!

The journal cover is floral and feminine. The words "Be Still" are from the Bible. The whole verse says "Be still and know that I am God." The verse teaches us to take a break from everything and focus on the biggest thing in life- GOD!

A good quality journal with lots of room for writing and journal keeping. I love the quotes/scriptures on each page. I almost wanted them to have different lines on each page, but they do repeat halfway through the journal.

This is a very pretty journal. The spiral binding lets the journal lay flat. The pages are smooth and easy to write on. I use ballpoint pens but have used a common fine-lined marker to show how the ink shows up. I held the page up to the light and you can see through with the light, but doesn't bleed through. If you use a marker on both sides, you might have an issue. I really like the scriptures on the bottoms of the pages. I hope you enjoy your new journal!

I really like this journal- hard cover, spot to write to and from if you've giving it as a gift, scripture on the bottom of every oage. My only complaint is when I first received it I thought the front cover corners were dirty but it is just the coloring. Elegant. Would make a nice gift for a loved one.
